There is virtually no ship repair above the water line that can not be performed at Panama Anchorages. Also, with the development of new technologies and expertise, a very large number of underwater ship repairs can be performed outside the traditional dry dock. If your vessel needs special ship repair services and you do not have a lay by berth, or if your docking time schedule is delayed or reduced, afloat ship repairs could be a cost effective solution.
MEC’s certified and approved welders hold most of the records in steel production in the region. One of them was the largest repair performed in Panama, with a 450 tons renewed to a car carrier within 90 days in the year 2008 . And the other most recent one was a 57 ton steel renewal on the MV Eagle Otome performed in 15 days in February 2010.
A wide range of different types of pipes on ships have been taken down for repairs at our workshops. Our staff includes certified welders under ANSI and ES WPS and have DNV, GL, ABS, LR and BV certifications, as well as experienced fitters and supervisors who can successfully, quickly and precisely repair pipe systems of all kinds, including engine rooms, ballast systems, cargo manifolds, fire foam lines, steam piping, high pressure pipes, hydraulic lines, boiler pipes, pump room pipes and cargo system pipes.
Either regarding Regular Maintenance of Electric Systems or Severs Fire on board vessels, our onsite services include the rewinding of generators and motors of all sizes, including ship main propulsion systems. We can carry out repairs on coil winding, starters, switchboards, breakers, and electric motors.

MEC offers our customers hull treatment in dry dock, at pier side or at anchorage. Our treatment involves cleaning and painting both the external hull and the internal tanks and cargo holds. Both Grit Blasting or Ultra High Pressure Washing at 45,000 psi are available services offered by our company.
Tank cleaning and Gas Free preparation, are both an important ship repair requirement from our customers. IFO, Crude Oil, MGO are just some of the products that our staff is trained to clean in order to provide Gas Free certification by a marine chemist, in order to perform hot works, or to perform a change of cargo.

MEC, capacity for Conversion of Barges is non compared to any company in the area. Comversion of Bunker Barges to Deck Barges and Conversion of Single Hull Bunker Barges to Double Hull Bunker Barges can be done under Class Approval afloat and in our Dry Dock Facilities. SPS Technology is available for projects where the cargo capacity is the main concern.
MEC, experience no new buildings is backed by some of the leader new building shipyards in the world. With new building projects a ready performed, the 2.5 hectares production facility of MEC located on a Free Tax Zone Area, provide the financial advantage of import all materials free of taxes. The High Technology equipment on the facility such as CNC Pantograph equipment, 500 Press Machine, and complete Machining Facility, is unique to the industry and reduce labor costs.
Finally located just 5 minutes to the production facility is the MEC Shipyard facility, with a 2,000 winch capacity capable to launch the most demanding floating equipment.
A 4,000 HP Single Screw Ocean Going Tug Boat A3, with Franklin Rudder. The MEC SALVAGE is equipment with A3 Navigation Equipment and has one of the best Salvage Captains of the Country, with large experience on Ocean Going Towing and Salvage Operations.
A 1,250 HP Push Tug Boat, the MEC Towing operates together with the MEC BARGE (NEW YORK V) and is a twin screw fix proppeller steel rebuild Tug Boat.
The 65' and twin screw has two 12 V 71 Detroilt Diesel Engines, making the crew boat, one of the fastest and more reliable workboats in the area. With a capacity for 50 passengers and 40 feet of deck area, the MEC REPAIRS is a very reliable alternative for anchorage projects.
The 22' and 250 HP aluminum fast boat MEC FAST makes honor to its name and can reach up to 25 knots, for fast attendance on the anchorage. The MEC FAST is a very usefull tool for all inshore anchorage operations as well as for maneuvers on the shipyard for docking operations.
The 40' and 500HP aluminum diving workboat, has a 20' deck space area and capacity for 30 passengers.
